GUNI-FADP
Faculty of Architecture Design and Planning (GUNI-FADP)
GUNI-FADP plans to accommodate its understudies the best structure instruction which advances and grows their imaginative limits and sensibilities and builds up the establishment for an innovative expert life. FADP is likewise dedicated to the conviction that one of society’s prime obligations is toward learning and instruction in the most profound sense: To support one’s individual imagination and to give opportunity of thought investigation of all students is a genuine instructive duty. GUNI, as its history appears, consistently urges inventive ways to deal with the instruction system and GUNI-FADP unequivocally confirms it and remembering a similar way of thinking expects to give an environment wherein opportunity of thought.
Program Overview
GUNI, as its history shows, always encourages innovative approach to the education methodology and GUNI-FADP strongly affirms it and keeping in mind the same philosophy aims to provide an atmosphere in which freedom of thought and exploration can flourish, where students can explore and utilize their strengths and individual talents, interests and methods of working, to their highest potential.
Core Features
Architectural education has 2 main parts. Theory based Curriculum & Workshop Based Approaches. GUNI-FADP is trying to balance all aspects of these and overlap both aspects wherever possible. We plan to break the 5 years of Architectural Education is 3 modules : Foundation Year ( Year 1 ), Middle Years ( Years 2 & 3 ) and Degree Years ( Years 4 & 5 ). In Short, Foundation year will focus on developing basic skills like drawing, understanding scale, livable space, compositions, materials, history etc. Middle Years will focus on strengthening the design concepts and approaches of bigger spaces along with structural and material understanding, history analysis and other creative aspects. Degree years will be focused on developing in-depth analytical approach to architectural spaces at urban level and larger scale supported with practical aspects like environment, services, byelaws and other issues.
The fundamental skills like drawing, model making and design thought process and development will be complemented by analytical uses of digital technology and other developments in software. Overall study pattern also will be linked to the other allied fields like Fine Arts, Interior Design, Construction Technology etc. and will be supported by workshops and assignments based on these field of knowledge when all this fusion of knowledge can excite students to explore their own vision.
As the world is seeing the explosion of new technology every day, one can’t forget the roots of our culture. The architectural education is incomplete without the understanding of different cultures, environmental issues and technological advancement issues at every level. We plan to understand this through analysis, case studies, comparative studies, theories of other cultures and art fields through various mediums like Public Art, Graphic Design, Films, and Videos.
Program Outcomes
GUNI-FADP has worked out the studio curriculum in ways that it will understand traditions of design and craft and will be identifying and understanding problems that will analyze current trends of contemporary practice, the sensitive and urgent issues resulting from rapid urbanization and at the same time balancing with environmental and cultural conservation concerns. In these studio exercise & workshops, students and faculty will work hand on hand to explore new approaches to architectural solutions to offer to our rapidly changing world, putting their mind and heart and all efforts to create an exciting future for an architecture world.
We are passing through such transition period that our one foot is on our culture and another one on technological advancement. We as architects and architecture students should honestly try not to reject our own culture, tradition and history but we must relearn the poetics of space, poetics of life, determinants and materials for design as these have changed over a period of time but not the principals of design as they are constants in this journey of design evolution. By relearning or rediscovering these poetics and process, one will enrich not only his vision but also a life, as Architecture itself is an artistic journey to enhance our and others’ lives.
